About VHPI

The Veterans Healthcare Policy Institute is a national nonprofit, nonpartisan research and policy organization that studies the provision of healthcare and other services to the those who served in the US military as well as their families and communities.

We help veterans, veterans service organizations and other veterans’ advocates, legislators, members of the media, and the broader public understand the complex nature of veterans’ health conditions and the need for a population health system that specializes in providing veteran-centric care and services. VHPI focuses its research and education on how the legislators, the public, and the media can better understand veterans’ healthcare needs, improve the provision of care to veterans in the public and private sector, and apply VA best practices to the rest of the American healthcare system.

We also help community organizations, advocacy groups, public officials, researchers, and the general public understand how the privatization of VA benefits and services impacts service quality, democracy, equity, and government budgets. We also advocate for reclaiming and building popular support for public institutions that work for all of us.
